The bar was super crowded, bustling with fellow bloggers.
Besides Kelley, I also bumped into Summer, another co-worker who I didn't know blogged! It's so funny to see people you work with who share similar interests!
I drank a complimentary beer when I walked in then switched to a cherry ginger vodka drink that totally hit the spot. Check out the center pieces- leek and carrots! The highlight of the night (besides hanging out with bloggers) was the SoCo Ice Cream. Founded in Western, MA, this ice cream was creamy and delicious and had really unique flavors. The expresso cookie was so good!
But the best part of the event was the AMAZING gift bag. I didn't get a chance to look at it until tonight and I was amazed at everything in there. Tons of giftcards to restaurants, snacks, fig jam, magnets and various coupons. It rocked! Thanks Rachel and UrbanSpoon!
All in all, it was a wonderful night spent with local Boston Bloggers!

Now on to... Speed Tuesdays!
I woke up early to get to the gym to do my workout. It was snowing at 6am so I hit the treadmill. The plan was to do 5X1000s, starting at 7.0mph on the treadmill and going up to 8.0mph. In between sets, I did a 400 (.25 mile) rest.
Workout:
1 mile at 6.0mph 1.0 incline
1000 meters (.625) at 7.0-7.2mph 1.0 incline (5:09)
400 rest (walked 200 at 3.0mph, jogged 200 at 6.0mph)
1000 meters (.625) at 7.2-7.4mph 1.0 incline (5:03)
400 rest (walked 200 at 3.0mph, jogged 200 at 6.0mph)
1000 meters (.625) at 7.3-7.5mph 1.0 incline (4:57)
400 rest (walked 200 at 3.0mph, jogged 200 at 6.0mph)
1000 meters (.625) at 7.4-7.6mph 1.0 incline (4:55)
400 rest (walked 200 at 3.0mph, jogged 200 at 6.0mph)
1000 meters (.625) at 7.6-8.2mph 1.0 incline (4:42)
200 rest (walked 200 at 3.0mph)
.75 mile cooldown 6.2 mph 1.0 incline
6 miles 58 minutes
So, this workout was a good one. I never felt like I was going to die so I'm thinking next time I will push it a little more on the first three. And eventually I want to try not to walk at all during the rest interval. In general, the 1000 was my least favorite event in High School and College. I only had to run it twice in my track career but wow its painful! Do you go to Blogger Events? Were you at the Boston Launch Party? And if you do speed workouts, do you walk in between sets?
So good to see you! Such a fun event.
ReplyDeleteso bummed i was in new york for this...i was at the gallows a mere 30-odd hours before! looks like a fun time for sure.
ReplyDeleteSo great to see you last night! What a great night!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great party. I love blogger meetups!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds amazing!! I wish there were parties like this around where I live. I think I need to move to Boston! ;)
ReplyDeleteI always find it funny when people I know in real life have blogs I didn't know about. It's like discovering they have a secret life or something.
And great job on the workout! 1000s have always been my least favorite thing too. We ran them a LOT in cross country and it was torturous.
I feel like I'm too far from Boston to get into that loop, but all of the events seem fantastic! That's some serious swag!
ReplyDeleteI am gearing up for a speed workout tomorrow. I hope I don't mess up the 1000s! They seem like fun, though - just enough speed that it won't kill me.
Looked like such a fun event- I can't believe I missed it! Hope we meet soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun event! I would love to go to more events! So funny about your co-workers having blogs too.
ReplyDelete"I never felt like I was going to die so I'm thinking next time I will push it a little more on the first three" <-- so funny but true. To get fast you have to seek out pain :)
great to see you! had a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteSuch a seriously fun surprise! So glad that we discovered this little known secret!
ReplyDeleteYou've had so many blogger meet-ups lately. I think besides Charlotte, New England is the place to be :) So much fun!
ReplyDeleteFUN! I didn't know Kelley or Summer blogged either! I'm totally jealous of your gift bag!
ReplyDeleteoh, that looks so fun! I've never been to an "official" blogger event, but love meeting bloggers.
ReplyDeletewhen I do speed workouts, I run slooowly between sets
So bummed I missed this! Would have loved to be there but I missed the boat, and didnt realize to sign up until it was too late!
ReplyDeleteI live in Worcester but work a couple towns over from Hopkinton.
And I always walk 90 seconds between speedwork sets! Have to get that heart rate down somehow. Heck, sometimes I dont even walk-I just stand still and pant!
Sounds like fun. I've been to blogger dinners but never a blogger event like that.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes run and sometimes do a slow jog for my recovery laps. Just depends on how I'm feeling.
Oh you are making me wish I still lived in Boston! what an awesome event! And yeah, aren't swag bags the best? Blogging definitely has its perks :P
ReplyDeleteYou are speedy, girlie. Love this workout! I hope one day to work up to something like that... and by one day, I mean in a few months :)
ReplyDeleteToo bad I missed the event on Monday. Looks like fun!
PS- I WISH I had co-workers who blogged. That would be so cool.
How fun! I need to try and set up a blogger event for somewhere around here.
ReplyDeleteSo happy we finally got to meet at the party. And, yes, that swag bag is incredible!
