Blogger Meetups!

I never understood twitter for the longest time.  I thought it was dumb.  And my blog... I didn't understand why no one was reading.  Then I realized something, no one read my blog because know one knew about it.  Then I started reading more and more blogs.  I found a community of Boston Food Blogs, Running blogs, healthy living blogs, etc.  Reading blogs became a huge hobby of mine.  I started commenting and engaging.  In short, I started becoming PART of the blogging community.  And then twitter- I started tweeting people and guess what?  They tweeted back.  These blogs I was such a fan of, these girls I had so much in common with- were people just like me: girls who had the same passions and interests that I do.

It was about 6 months ago that I began connections with other bloggers.  One of the first few blogs I started reading and commenting on was Becky and Lauren's .  I found out about them somehow from running the Providence Marathon (they ran the half). When Becky set up a Blogger-Meet-Up, I was really excited to finally meet in person.  Truth is, meeting bloggers in person is kinda like going out on your first date when you've been chatting with someone on Match or something.  It can be awkward, but it usually isn't.  I remember when I met Jess and Sarah at Blogtoberfest in the fall, I felt like it was like meeting someone I already knew- we just had so much in common!

Yesterday, I met up with Becky, Bekah and Corey at Tavolini at Patriot Place.
It was the first time meeting these ladies but I've been reading their blogs for awhile so I totally felt like I already knew them.  We met up at 1 and stayed at the restaurant until almost 4pm!!! For lunch, I started with a Greek Salad.
and then Becky and I shared the Fig Prosciutto Pizza.  If you've been reading this blog, you know that is one of my FAVORITE combinations!  I even tried to recreate it here. I ate 3 pieces- so good!
Anyway, we spent hours talking about running, careers, running, races, relationships... oh and did I mention, running? The blogging community really is so amazing because it brings together friendships that you wouldn't otherwise have.  And although I love my friendships with my home friends, its always so nice to meet people who share such similar interests and passions.

Becky (Beck on the Run) and ME!
Thanks Becky for setting this up- I'm excited to hang out more! (Like running 11 next weekend!)

This morning I woke up early to meet my friend Nancy and her friend to run ten miles.  I mainly ran on the street because the sidewalks were still a bit slippery.  Around mile 7, Nancy's friend started feeling some pain in her hip and faded back.  At mile 8.5, I took off to try to finish the run strong.  In general, I felt pretty strong.  10 Miles in 9:36 pace, last mile at 9:02, but I know I need to get faster if I am going to come close to my goal at Hyannis.

In the afternoon I met Theodora, Sarah and Becky for lunch at The Met in Back Bay.  It was so great to see these girls again- I feel like I have so much in common with them!  We had some Mimosa's and then I ordered the Breakfast Burrito with Potato Hash.  Looks kinda scary but tasted great.
 Sarah got the Cobb Salad...
and Becky got the Eggplant Sandwich...
The food was good but the company was even better!  So happy I got to meet Corey, Becky and Bekah and hang out with Theo and Sarah.  I hope we hang out a lot more in the future!

  2. Daisy just went to Tavolino too... I think a different location though. Too funny. I have met some of the best people through blogs. I now have a close group of friends who share my passion for food, and it is awesome. I'm looking forward to meeting you tomorrow!
